The greatest friend of the California deserts has died

 Senator Diane Feinstein has died at the ripe old age of 90. There will be tributes from folks more eloquent and knowledgable than this old guy. But I would like to share with you my favorite Feinstein moment. Back in 2015, Senator Feinstein held a public, under the tent, meeting for comments regarding the three proposed national monuments; Castle Mountains, Mojave Trails and Sand to Snow. There was some controversy and one of the reasons for this meeting may have been to defuse some of it. What I mainly remember was the masterful way in which she ran the meeting and how the stakeholders all got a fair chance to speak. We all know what ended up happening. All three monuments were created and millions of acres have been protected. They sure won't be putting up any solar fields or windfarms in those acres.
