The "New" Pioneer Gambling Hall and Hotel in Laughlin
First real post to this blog. I decided to do an overnighter over the weekend and the Pioneer had the best rate at $50. Having heard that it was a "new" Pioneer, it seemed like a good time to check it out. It took 5 hours of driving through the beautiful Mojave Desert to get there, not including a quick stop at Avi Casino, and prior to checking in, I made a quick losing visit to the Golden Nugget. I managed to check in early at my hotel and made my way to the room. Once inside, I discovered that no such renovation had happened to my room. The first thing I noticed was just how insecure my room was with the deadbolt not making contact with the door frame which basically had been rubbed away from years of use. There was no real privacy as the drapes wouldn't close all the way, something I fixed by jamming my computer bag over the drape edges. It just looked like the room hadn't been redone in several decades. But the shower worked, even if the sink draine...
